Service Levels
Standard Service
If you request the standard service, your repair will be put in line with all other
standard repairs in order of arrival. When your repair is at the front of the line, the
next available technician will evaluate it to determine the condition of the drive. If the
evaluation reveals that the drive can be recovered with no data loss, then the
technician will proceed with the repair. If the evaluation reveals that not all data
can be recovered, then the technician will call you after evaluating your disk to explain
which data should be recoverable if a repair is attempted. If you decide that you
want us to attempt the repair, then the technician will begin the repair. If you cancel
the repair, or if the drive cannot be repaired, we will return your drive to you with no
charge from us. You are responsible for return shipping charges.
Priority Service
If you request the priority service, your repair will be moved ahead of any standard
repairs that are in line. In most cases, a technician will start work on your repair on
the same day the disk and paperwork arrives. If the evaluation reveals that the drive can
be recovered with no data loss, then the technician will proceed with the repair.
If the evaluation reveals that not all data can be recovered, then the technician
will call you after evaluating your disk to explain which data should be
recoverable if a repair is attempted. If you decide that you want us to attempt the
repair, then the technician will begin the repair. If you cancel the repair, or if the
drive cannot be repaired, we will return your drive and charge a $50 fee for the Priority
Evaluation. You are responsible for return shipping charges.
Repair Methods
Drive Repair
A drive repair attempts to rebuild the system area of a logical drive to give you access
to the data area of the drive. A successful drive repair can restore a drive that
was damaged by most viruses, by accidental partitioning and formatting, or random damage
to the system area of the drive. In most data recovery situations, a
successful drive repair will recover all valid files on the drive. In those rare
situations where extra effort is required to recover additional files, the drive repair
service allows the technician to attempt to manually recover up to 10 additional files of
your choice.
Mobile Tech provides three categories of drive repairs based on the type of drives: FAT
Drive Repair, Compressed Drive Repair, and FAT32 Drive Repair.
FAT Drive Repair
A FAT drive is a logical drive that was created by any version of DOS, Windows, OS/2,
Windows NT, Windows 95, or Windows 98, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. A FAT drive cannot be larger than 2 GB in size,
with the exception of 4 GB FAT drives under Windows NT. If the logical drive was created
by one of the above operating systems and is not an HPFS drive, an NTFS drive, or a FAT32
drive, then it should be a FAT drive.
Compressed Drive Repair
A Compressed Drive is a logical drive that is created by drive compression software
such as Microsoft Doublespace or Drivespace. Because it is more difficult to evaluate a
compressed drive than an uncompressed drive, we charge a bench fee of $50 only if our
evaluation shows that the compressed drive cannot be repaired.
FAT32 Drive Repair
A FAT32 Drive is a logical drive that was created by either one of the later versions
of Windows 95 or by any version of Windows 98/2000/XP. A FAT32 drive is more complex than a FAT
drive and therefore costs more to repair.
File Recovery
A file recovery extracts files or fragments of files from your disk and makes
the recovered files available. A file recovery requires information about which
files need to be recovered. A file recovery does not repair internal errors in the data
files and does not ensure that the files will be in perfect condition, only that the
technician has made a good faith effort to extract the correct data from the drive.
Limited File Recovery
If your drive does not need to be rebuilt but is simply missing a few important files,
then the Limited File Recovery is the service to choose. The limited file recovery
service allows the technician to attempt to manually recover up to 10 files you specify. A
Limited File Recovery will recover up to 10 files that you cannot find on the
drive.
Deluxe File Recovery
A deluxe file recovery is necessary when a drive repair would not give you
access to all of your data. The deluxe file recovery service allows the
technician to attempt to manually recover as many of the additional files you specify as
can be recovered in 20 hours. If more than 20 hours are required, then you will be asked
whether you want to buy another deluxe file recovery.
